...still alive [14 Apr 2008|11:01pm]
[ mood | amused ]
[ music | Minus the Bear ]

So I knew I'd be back to typing another entry one day, though perhaps not 96 weeks later!

I stumbled upon a link to live journal on accident not too long ago and to my delight was able to log in(after several failed attempts at my old password). Since then I've been glancing through all my 200 something entries that trace back to age 13. I'm really glad that I was so active in my writing over those years. It is extremely rewarding to look back at some of the fond memories I documented while at the same time observe how I've matured and grown up a bit. Even the comment conversations seem to capture a part of me that I almost forgot about. God I feel old...

...Which brings me to the present. I turned 18 back in January and am currently awaiting Highschool graduation with little patience. Most of my time lately is occupied with work, school, working out, and of course spending time with all my still-awesome friends (being the social butterfly that I am :p). I work at Blockbuster now as a Customer Service Representative (its not as fancy as it sounds, I just check in movies and shit), and am loving the job! Aside from making $9.50 an hour, free movie and game rentals are a major perk. From reading through old entries, its obvious I longed for this job since before I knew jack-shit about work ethic. I'm glad theres at least one goal I followed through with since then :D

As for working out, my parents bought me a gym membership for Christmas and one thing led to another. I fell into a significantly healthy lifestyle and ended up loosing around 38 lbs, and still counting! I've become pretty addicted to running and the natural high it offers and am generally much more happy with myself than I used to be. I had been becoming gradually more self conscious about being somewhat overweight last year and am glad I developed the will power to change things. In doing so I've learned a lot about self discipline and productivity, and feel that aside from looking better I've acquired a good attitude to step out of High School with.

Below is a picture of me from about two months ago thats really the most recent picture I could dig up in my files, followed by a picture of chubby Max taken last Summer!

VS

And man I missed using HTML...^_^

Right so...as far as my friends go, I am happy to say they are all the same people and then some. It seems that senior year has brought a ridiculous number of new faces into my life. I've had several other jobs since my last entry- On the Border, Mellow Mushroom, Tropical Smoothie- and have made a lot of good friends through those alone, on top of the many new people I've met at school. I feel like I've taken advantage of my last year at Brookwood and befriended all the people that I would care to. As if that wasn't enough, I have a new wonderful girlfriend as of three weeks ago. Or perhaps I shouldn't say 'new', as I dated her Freshman year, but either way the years have been kind to both of us and now I sense a strong connection. Life is good..

Of course- life isn't perfect. My main issue right now is graduating on time and walking with my class, which has just introduced itself as what seems to be an impossibility. Some of my online credits fucked up- and my school is just fucking lame in general (theres the rebel in me talking). So anyway, it looks like I wont be receiving my diploma with the hundreds of kids I've been in school with since day 1, but I guess I'll get over the embarrassment. I will still graduate this Summer and go on to college in August...

Speaking of which, I'll be attending Georgia Perimeter for my first year to knock out my Core classes and boost my GPA, then going on somewhere to study music. Ah, music. Yes I'm still a striving musician who will be trying to make ends meet doing so when I'm living on my own. My old band, Surreal, whom I spoke of often in the entries below, will be printing an album at the end of this month. Our singer, Corey, has been working on mixing and tweaking our recordings up at Berklee all this year, and has finally been able to hook us up with some professional mixing dudes. I couldn't be more excited about this...of course we are no longer really a performing band, but it will be incredibly rewarding to have these songs to enjoy forever.

I think I am up to 7 or 8 paragraphs now, so I'm gonna go ahead and call it quits. I miss all my old LJ buddies and would love to hear from some of you, so please hit me with a comment! ^_^

One more thing...I got this huge tatoo finished a few weeks ago that I'll post a picture of below. My sister drew it, the music shown is the vocal melody in the chorus of Across the Universe by The Beatles. Hope you like it (I know I do, which is all that matters!) :)

Colorado and all it's snowless Glory [09 Jun 2006|11:34am]
[ mood | annoyed ]
[ music | Genesis- Tonight, Tonight, Tonight ]

So yea, got home last night from my 2,000 mile flight. i was rather glad to be home too.

Heres the trip in a nutshell.

Colorado

-

Snow

=

Piece of shit

Alright so maybe it isn't that bad...but without skiing, sledding, or building snowpeople, it offers shit to do. Looking down from a plane all there are are little patches of farmland and a group of buildings here and there. They have no residential roads or anything, everything is connected by one big expressway. You come out of the neighborhood...be prepared to accelerate to 60mph!

The flight there sucked as well. First off..we were getting our plane tickets and some old dude ran past me, tripped over my luggage, and busted his face open. It was not a fun site- blood was flowing as if out of a sink and he just sat there staring at me as if I'd taken every bit of hope out of his life. I don't know....just not a good way to begin a trip. On the plane I sat next to some fat dude who passed most of his time by guzzling vodka. We didn't speak the whole time, so it was awkward as hell. Well actually when we landed he let out a "I like Colorado..." and waited for me to praise it as well. I didn't, he got upset.

The house we stayed at was great actually. It was around 700 thousand, so you could imagine. But there was Nothing to do! I spent half the day luggin around Myspace and taking funny pictures of myself on the iPhoto.

We went downtown one day and I saw hobos playing bagpipes to advertise their pot-fest or something. Apparently weed is legal in Denver, but yea that was definetily the highlight of the trip. My only soveineirs are a miniture Buddha figure eating tofu and a used Phil Collins cd. But hey, at least I came home with 90$

So if for some reason you desire to go to Colorado, make sure it's during the Winter.

Oh and don't eat "Rockie Mountain Oysters".

Man its been a while. I know only like 3 people read this, but really this journal is more for myself i guess.

A lot has happend since Febuary whatever when I last updated...

*I've had a 3-month relationship come and go
*The band has made great progress in writing music and building a fanbase, as have Viceroy
*I graduated 10th grade, with the exception of failing Chemistry
*I've made over 100 prank calls and recorded them (www.myspace.com/1800pranky0ass)
*I've completed over half of my next solo cd (The Maxwell Complex)
*I've gotten my license and probably driven over 40 of my friends places for one reason or another, thats been a lot of fun :)
*I've seen Coheed and Cambria and Avenged Sevenfold
*I've beaten Kingdom Hearts 2 after many many hours of sitting on my ass
*I've gotten 7 regular students coming to me per week for music lessons, and people are continuing to call me. At this rate I won't need a real Summer job, thought I'm still waiting for people to call me for an interveiw

Thats all that comes to mind in recent significant events, though I know there are more.

Much of my Summer vacation will be spent working with the band, whether it be writing, recording, playing shows, or just hanging out. Corey, Brandon, and Kyle will be going off to college late August, so I'm trying to get the best out of my time with them. Surreal has really made my year a great experience, I've gotten lots of new friends and expanded my abilities as a musician in both skill and knowledge.

Giving lessons, of course, will also take up a good bit of my Summer, but fortunatly not near as many hours as I spent in that hell-hole Kroger last Summer. I'm really enjoying teaching people, apart from the money, it's great to watch them improve and know that you're actually helping them out. It's also neat how much you can learn from teaching.

So hopefuly that amde up for my extended absence from LJ. Hope yall are having a good Summer :)

So it's been a good month since I've updated. My personal record, but I'm still here.

This thing is dead anyway, but what the fuck. I'll just lay down what's been gonig on.

Had a boring Christmas, no sister= no fun. Highlgiht of the break was probably my ski trip and Brandon's New Years party.

Not much has happened since then. Lot's of band practice lately, it's great to watch us improve and be productive with the new songs. I can't wait until everythings finished up and we start playing gigs, should be early next month. The Local Tang BHS Talent show is in about a month, and if all goes well I'll be playing two acts- Surreal and Phil- which will each rock! So go.

Cds have finally finished selling, made a good 300$ profit. Thanks to everyone who bought one/ helped out. It was a really fun experience.

Today's my 16th Birthday. Very exciting age ^_^. I just went out and applied to several places, all of which seem far superior to Kroger. Driver's Ed. starts tomorrow, and my license "appointment" is March 3rd. Cell phone Saturday, along with my birthday party.

With all all of the above happening in the next 2 months, life looks like it's gonna get very busy, especially while keeping a B average. Hope I can handle it.

Edit:

OH YEAH! CASSIDY BAKED ME THESE AMAZING BIRTHDAY COOKIES THAT I LIKE ATE AT SCHOOL AND ENJOYED VERY MUCH! THANKS CASSIDY!

So Me and [info]heirtoruin decided to try recording stuff together, him singing me playing. This is the first of many songs to come, thought it's pretty short. The mastering is a little weird still since we didn't put much effort into that, but it turned out alright. Originally it is the second section of Dream Theater's A Change of Seasons song.

On another note, I have absolutely nothing to do tomorrow after work (7-2). So someone call me or something.

Yea so sorry if anyone got offended in my last post or whatever, I try to avoid lj-drama as much as I can, besides the fact that it gives me like 357457256 comments. Nicole you're a damn cool chick :)

Now then, it looks like we will be going to Florida tomorrow after all, despite the significant increase in cost. I'm really glad an opportunity to go on vacation came up, right now I'd just like a break from it all- and since I can't get suspended again I don't have many more options :). Plus one of the best feelings I get is playing acoustic on the beach, so I'm especially looking forward to that. Hopefully my sorry-ass skin will get some kind of tan, but the sun hasn't done me justice in the past so I won't be too optimistic.

Now, once again, I will hold another comment contest. Same rules pretty much- 100 comments minimum and don't be too repetitive. The winner get's 12$ worth of candy from Dollar General, and you can just ask our last winner- Zach Robinson - how much candy that adds up to :). Also, I have just changed my password so nobody can log on to my username and block other peopel from commenting, as brilliant as that is hehe.

See you all wednesday- have a good weekend!

Lots of fun stuff tonight.

Saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Mal and Harrison:). It was as great of a movie as I had expected, and Depp actually did an awesome job as Wonka. Also the music was done completely by Danny Elfman which brought a huge advantage over the original, you'll see what I mean when the Oompa Loompas sing. But yeah great movie, really funny. Go see it.

Afterwards we all went over to Borders for the big Harry Potter party (the book released at midnight tonight. We saw a lot of random people there, but mainly hung out with Bob, Cassidy, and her ballet posse. It was incredibly crowded so we entertained ourselves by messing around with people for a while then went to Bob's around 12:30. And now we're here doin' nothing, so I thought I'd update. yay.

I've finally gotten used to the ringing in my ears after live music so that it doesn't really annoy me anymore, it's pretty cool actually.

So we got to Will Henry's around 8:30 and goofed around a while. Dominic(Zach's guitar teacher) was playing with his bands until around 10, and I really enjoyed it, especially the keyboards and stuff. The bar was very crowded and a lot of people wanted to take the stage, so I started to think we weren't gonna be able to play but then we sqeezed in three songs- Plehtora, Carnage, and Armadillo. I thought it went really well, especially since we hadn't practiced with Zach for a while. Luckily he's good enough to kind of go with the flow, but yeah thanks for playing with us Zach :). Harrison did really good as usual and I had my mess-ups, but I guess the crowd was into it enough to where they didn't really notice/care. Most of the audience was drunk to some extent, so there were a lot of random hollars and shouts. My mom told me when we first got on some guy behind her muttered "Man i dont wanna hear some of these middle schoolers mhmm hya", but after are first song he shouted "Them sum bitches good!"- ha. Phil, Bob, Evan, and my teacher Mark came to see us as well which was cool. We might try and play another open mic night there that wont be as packed in 2 weeks, but I dunno.

Friday I'm goin' to see Willy Wonka with Harrison and Mal, and then going to some Harry Potter thing at Borders so that's somethin' to look forward to. meanwhile I have nothing to do after work (7-1:30) tomorrow so gimme a ring.

Oh yea, and I succesfully shaved my pubes into a swatika, had nothing better to do earlier today. I feel accomplished ^_^

The Mexican that got away.... [13 Jul 2005|02:11am]
[ mood | bored ]
[ music | Feeder- Suffocate ]

Well this is the second time I've attempted to make this entry so I'm a bit frustrated, but here it goes...

Kroger got shoplifted shortly before I clocked out of work. It was pretty funny, some mexican guy just took his bags and power-walked out of the store. Once we started yelling "you have to pay!" he bolted out and the casier couldn't catch him, and he got away 0_0. Besides that, Harrison and Bob came and sat with me during my break which was cool- besides Bob constantly hitting me with a dirty rubber hand. Oh...and yesterday I learned how to use a janitor mop kit, pretty cool.

Tomorrow, or later today rather, is the gig thing with Phantasmagoria(Harrison and I) and Viceroy(Zach,Harrison,Evan), so that should be fun. If you've managed to not read about this in any of our entries, it's at Will Henry's Tavern at 9 PM, so come on down. Or up, depends where you live I guess.

If you are going to the 99X concert this weekend and arn't taking the MARTA than lemme know. My mom wont let me on the train without an adult (f'n gay) and I HAVE to go to this concert, so I need a ride one way.

Who's interested in a foursome on Monopoly? We'll all make a minor wager to make things intense and have a good time. I think it'd be cool if we played on the floor of Blockbuster or something, or at least to see how far we'd get before we were told to leave ha.

Rain, Music, and Hobos [09 Jul 2005|11:44pm]
[ mood | awake ]
[ music | Nine Inch Nails- The Hand That Feeds ]

Went to the first show of the chain of 99X Freeloader concerts at Atlanta Underground tonight. It was a really good time. Me, Louis, and Tiffany(Louis's sis) got there at about 6:30 and some local band was already playing. Then out came The Ceasers, who were surprisingly fantastic. I expected this band to be the worst there but they really got the crowd going and had a cool European vibeeeee. At this point the rain came pooring down and everything got intense. All of the black people went into barber shops and stuff to hide from the "stupid rock 'n roll whities" as I heard one call it, haha. StereoPhonics came out next and kicked ass. They were a bit more hard, kind of a Chevelle/Muse sound. Around the middle of their performance we moved about 50 feet back because of the mosh pits and pot and stuff (this was Louis's first concert so he wasn't used to a lot of that). Then Cake came on and people started gettin' crazy- climbing pillars and jumping off roofs and stuff. Cake didn't even have to try, they already had a reputation and everyone loved them, as it should of been.

So yea, fun show. Can't wait until the Weezer one next Saturday, and a lot more of my friends are going. Michael and harrison were supposed to tonight but I guess something happend. I just have to survive my bitchin' Kroger schedule this week and I'll be fine.

This entry could of been a lot longer but I tried to be brief, I won't show mercy next concert though :).
